Terms for testers

The beta

Varve is free while it is in the beta, and only people we have invited can sign in. It is still being built: things can change, break or be down for a while, and we may end the beta. If we do, we tell you well in advance.

Your account

One account is for one person. Keep your password to yourself. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time in settings.

What you record is yours

Your recordings, texts, summaries, tasks and reminders belong to you. We only get the right to store and process them so Varve can work for you — nothing else (see the privacy policy).

Recording other people

Follow the law where you are. Never record in secret, and never record a conversation you are not part of. Tell the people you record that you are recording, and get their consent where the law requires it.

No guarantees

Varve is a beta and comes as it is. Text and summaries are made by machines and can be wrong; check what matters. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot lose. Our liability is limited as far as the law allows; your rights as a consumer are not affected.

Ending

You can stop at any time by deleting your account. We may close an account that breaks these terms, in particular the use restrictions below.

Law

Danish law applies. Nothing here takes away the rights you have under the law where you live.

What Varve may not be used for

Speech becomes text with a model trained on CoRal, the Danish speech dataset from the Alexandra Institute. Its licences require that everyone who uses the model agrees to these restrictions, so you do by using Varve. They are quoted word for word:

1. In any way that violates any applicable national, federal, state, local or international law or regulation.
2. For the purpose of exploiting, Harming or attempting to exploit or Harm minors in any way;
3. To generate or disseminate false information with the purpose of Harming others;
4. To generate or disseminate personal identifiable information that can be used to Harm an individual;
5. To defame, disparage or otherwise harass others;
6. For any use intended to or which has the effect of Harming individuals or groups based on online or offline social behavior or known or predicted personal or personality characteristics
7. To exploit any of the vulnerabilities of a specific group of persons based on their age, social, physical or mental characteristics, in order to materially distort the behavior of a person belonging to that group in a manner that causes or is likely to cause that person or another person Harm
8. For any use intended to or which has the effect of discriminating against individuals or groups based on legally protected characteristics or categories.
9. To generate or disseminate machine-generated information or content in any medium without expressly and intelligibly disclaiming that it is machine-generated;
10. To impersonate or attempt to impersonate human beings for purposes of deception;
11. For fully automated decision making that adversely impacts an individual’s legal rights or otherwise creates or modifies a binding, enforceable obligation.
12. To impersonate any person or entity or otherwise misrepresent its affiliation with a person or entity, including (but not limited to) the creation of synthetic speech (i) emulating a specific natural person or (ii) which is found to be similar to a specific natural person's speech (regardless of whether the identity of such natural person is known at the time of the creation); or
13. To detect or infer aspects and/or features of an identity of any natural persons, such as name, family name, address, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, age, location (at any geographical level), skin color, society or political affiliations, employment status and/or employment history, and health and medical conditions.
